Are you a Christian? That is the most important question anyone will ever ask you. This question concerns much more than church membership, Bible knowledge or conformity to a set of doctrines. A Christian is someone who belongs to Jesus Christ, someone who has commited themselves to being His disciple. The reason this question is important is that if we cannot answer yes to that question, we will never enter into relationship with God, and we will never receive the gift of life (abundant and eternal), that He offers us. If you are not a Christian, there are three essential decisions you must make in order to become one. First, you must decide to admit that you are a sinner. That you have done wrong things, evil things, harbored thoughts, expressed thoughts and acted on thoughts that are wrong. "Sin" is every thought, word and deed contrary to the loving, holy will of God. Second, you must decide to accept the free offer of life God has provided through Jesus Christ. Jesus died on the cross as a substitution for us. Because of our sins, we are all under the penalty of death. Jesus willingly sacrificed Himself, however, so that we might be free from the death penalty and receive life instead. Third, you must decide to live for Him from now on. To be His disciple. To learn His teachings and live your time on earth in the holy and loving way Jesus lived. You must decide to obey Him without question. Friend, you are loved. You don't need to give in to the darkness pressing around you. Pray to Jesus and tell Him you've made the three decisions we've talked about. Receive His gift of life. Then contact us here at First Baptist so we can help you get started on your new life as a disciple of Jesus Christ!! We are with you, we want to pray with you and help you in other ways too. |
